Guide on how to apply for teaching positions

If you are interested in applying for employment at Centro Cultural Colombo Americano as an English teacher, here are our current recruitment dates and requirements.

PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS PROFILE

  1. Bachelor’s degree (Licenciatura), Masters’ Degree or PhD. in English/languages teaching
  2. Student at the tenth semester of his/her Bachelor’s Degree in EFL teaching programs (study certificate is required)
  3. Professionals with other college degrees who certify, at least, two years of English language teaching experience

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR COLOMBIAN TEACHERS

  1. Institutional application form (download application here)
  2. Identification card copy
  3. Education certificates
  4. Work experience/reference letters
  5. CEFR C1/C2 level of proficiency certificate

(Updated proficiency tests available at the Colombo Education USA Office)

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR FOREIGN TEACHERS

  1. Institutional application form
  2. Passport copy
  3. Education certificates
  4. Work experience certificates
  5. Work visa
  6. CEF C1/C2 proficiency certificate (Native speakers of English with Master’s Degree in related areas are not required to provide this certificate)

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED

  1. Good interpersonal relationships
  2. Good oral and written communication skills
  3. Good classroom management with primary and high school students
  4. Good teamwork skills
  5. Responsibility

FAQ

In order to be legally employed in Colombia you must have a work visa. Contact your closest Colombian consulate in your area for further information.

Centro Cultural Colombo Americano will accept applications with all the required documents.

Only prospective native teachers who certify, at least, a Master’s Degree or in a related area a PhD certificate are exempt from presenting proficiency certificates.

Centro Cultural Colombo Americano only pays with Colombian currency.

There is a selection process which includes a pre-service training and enough time to obtain a work visa.
