The Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English (ECCE)

Is a standardized high-intermediate level English as a foreign language (EFL) examination designed, assessed and certified by CaMLA. The objective of the ECCE is to assess students in their ability to function and perform essential communicative transactions in four skill areas:

  • Listening comprehension (30 mins)
  • Grammar, vocabulary and reading (80 mins)
  • Writing (30 mins)
  • Interview (10 to 15 mins)

Exam Duration:

This exam lasts 3 hours approximately.

The ECCE focuses on the B2 level of the Common European Framework and it is used as evidence of intermediate-advanced English competence at a personal, social, educational and professional level.

On the exam day, you must bring:

  • Original ID card.
  • A Black lead pencil # 2 or HB, a sharpener and an eraser.

Results:

The exams are sent to the University of Cambridge Michigan for assessment and they send the certificates directly to the Centro Cultural Colombo Americano. If the candidate approves all the sections, he will obtain the “CERTIFICATE OF PROFICIENCY”. The results are delivered approximately 3 months after taking the test.

Registration and Payment Process

Prospective test takers should register at Centro Cultural Colombo Americano headquarters (Carrera 43 # 51- 95 Barranquilla). In order to do so, you should bring your original ID card (Cédula or passport), photocopy of ID/passport, two pictures with white background and pay the registration fee no later than one week before the date of the test.

On the exam day, you must bring:

  • Original ID card.
  • A Black lead pencil # 2.
  • A sharpener and an eraser.
