CCCA HISTORY

The Colombian-American Cultural Center in Barranquilla, a non-profit, binational center (BNC), was created in 1956 by a group of Americans and Colombians and with aid from the Embassy of the United States. The Center began to function in a rented house until 1962, when it opened its present location with 12 classrooms, a library and a gallery. Today the Center has 28 classrooms, a Bilingual Library, an Art Gallery, a Bookstore, a Multimedia Room, a cafeteria and patio.

On July 18, 1998, the Center opened a new North Branch (Sede Norte) with 30 modern classrooms, gardens, a cafeteria, a large parking lot and an athletic field. In the future the North Branch will become larger than the present midtown center.
